Enemies of wellness

Stress (Emotional, chemical, physical, and thermal) cause:

  • Increased cortisol and anitgen production causing inflammation
  • Decreased glucose (blood sugar) utilization causing sugar craving
  • Decreased collagen synthesis slowing repair
  • Increased protein breakdown
  • Inadequate diet resulting in poor vitamin and mineral intake

Enemies of Wellness:

  • Dry heat
  • Dehydration: body weight divided by 2=# oz/day of water you need to drink
  • Poor food quality:  high carbs and fats with little protein
  • Poor sleeping patterns:  irregular sleep patterns and poor sleeping posture (ex. lazy boys, stomach sleeping)
  • Lack of motion
  • Lack of exercise

Principles of Healing

  • The body should be self regulating and self healing
  • The nervous system is the master communication system coordinating body function
  • Nerve interference causes disruption of neural input and output to the brain.  This causes abnormal function.
  • The body’s response to stress is to adapt
  • the body is always in a state of breakdown and repair.
