Enemies of wellness
Stress (Emotional, chemical, physical, and thermal) cause:
- Increased cortisol and anitgen production causing inflammation
- Decreased glucose (blood sugar) utilization causing sugar craving
- Decreased collagen synthesis slowing repair
- Increased protein breakdown
- Inadequate diet resulting in poor vitamin and mineral intake
Enemies of Wellness:
- Dry heat
- Dehydration: body weight divided by 2=# oz/day of water you need to drink
- Poor food quality: high carbs and fats with little protein
- Poor sleeping patterns: irregular sleep patterns and poor sleeping posture (ex. lazy boys, stomach sleeping)
- Lack of motion
- Lack of exercise
Principles of Healing
- The body should be self regulating and self healing
- The nervous system is the master communication system coordinating body function
- Nerve interference causes disruption of neural input and output to the brain. This causes abnormal function.
- The body’s response to stress is to adapt
- the body is always in a state of breakdown and repair.
