Merry Christmas!
I just wanted to take a minute to wish you a Merry Christmas.
Recently, my beautiful bride spent some time in India speaking at a women’s conference. As I watched the video of her trip, I couldn’t help noticing something that convicted me. Often when we think of the people of India, you think of poverty and plagues. But when I watched the video, I saw people joyful, excited to worship God. I heard the testimonies of people who were persecuted for their beliefs, yet gladly continued to serve the Creator. Contrast that with the scenes I saw this week where a young mom complained the government wasn’t doing enough for her and kids complaining about not getting to go out and have fast food.
It makes me hurt inside. I am guilty of not being appreciative of what God has blessed with and sometimes catch myself wanting more when I have enough. More so, God has blessed me, and you, with a greater gift than something material or food to put in our mouths. These things are temporary. He sent Jesus, for all of us to accept as a Savior. I challenge you not to get consumed by the commercialism of the season. Remember, christmas starts with “Christ.” You can always go to the birthday party and have fun, but remember it is the guest of honor that you should focus on. Seek Him. Merry Christmas.
